The gang, operating a 24/7 drug supply network, sent a special offer to over 9,000 customers, celebrating the release of Luis Diaz's dad from a kidnapping ordeal in Colombia. But here's where it gets controversial... their celebratory message became their downfall.
The message, an attempt to boost sales, read: "3 for £75 for the next hour to celebrate Luis Diaz dad's release..." It was a bold move, but it caught the attention of the authorities.
Gang leader Paul Lockyer, known as "the big fella," and his team were sentenced to a combined total of over 63 years in prison. The operation, run with his right-hand man James Neary, supplied two types of cocaine across Liverpool. The group worked tirelessly, processing and delivering hundreds of orders daily, with members working in shifts and storing drugs at various locations.
Lockyer's lavish lifestyle, funded by drug profits, included designer goods, luxury cars, and private yacht holidays. But investigators were one step ahead, monitoring the operation closely. They observed meetings, drug collections, and the dedicated phone used for constant orders.
Key operators like Paul McArdle, Christopher Horrocks, Stephen Lynch, Michelle Higgins, Lee Nugent, and Julie McCafferty played crucial roles in the supply chain. On May 6, 2025, the gang's reign ended as officers executed warrants, arresting all eight members. Lockyer and Neary were caught at Higgins' home, where the graft phone and a kilogram of cocaine were discovered.
During the investigation, police seized a significant amount of cocaine, drug-mixing equipment, and cash. The phone revealed over 9,000 customer contacts and thousands of promotional messages. The gang's well-oiled machine, described by an expert as "never encountered before," supplied an estimated 9.9 kilograms of cocaine, generating over £620,000.
Cocaine, a harmful drug linked to thousands of deaths annually, was the gang's specialty. All eight members pleaded guilty and were sentenced on February 9. Lockyer received 11 years, Neary 9 years, and the others varying terms.
